Full course description
The Social Responsibility presentation aims to provide an outline of four cross cutting issues that have relevance in development strategies and cut across all public health initiatives: gender equity, disability inclusiveness, child protection and environmental protection.
These priority areas for development are often not acknowledged for many reasons including (but not limited to); leadership, lack of resources or capacity, system failures, lack of or poor definitions of the issues, budget and strategy. These issues are key to development effectiveness and therefore can contribute to poverty reduction with a particular focus on vulnerable groups or neglected areas.
This presentation can be used to advocate and educate for gender equity, disability inclusiveness, child protection and environmental protection in eye health and vision care development.
This resource is delivered through a PowerPoint file, available for viewing online or download.
Brien Holden Vision Institute Academy
The Brien Holden Vision Institute Academy is a center of excellence for global eye health and vision care education.
With a commitment to human resource development and quality life‐long learning, the Academy promotes the implementation of sustainable programs by creating and providing the educational support (courses, resources and advice) essential to human resource capacity building, especially in the developing context.
Underpinning the Academy is the belief that education is the most effective way to build the capacity necessary to influence the change essential for reducing the social and economic effect of avoidable vision impairment.
